The Ribeira de Odeleite in southeast Portugal was nicknamed “The Blue Dragon River” after a photo posted online by photographer Steve Richards became popular in 2010. Originating in the mountains of the Serra do Caldeirao it is dammed near the hamlet of Odeleite by the Barragem de Odeleite which provides the water supply for all of eastern Algarve. The name is Arabian meaning Rio de Leite (stream of milk). Arial phot possibly by docious.
