Wow. I just finished The Three Body Problem trilogy by Liu Cixin, and it is amazing. I definitely recommend this series to sci-fi fans. Its as much of an exploration of physics as it is philosophy, wrapped in great story-telling and imagination. The books are long, but no space is wasted. An homage to Platos Allegory of the Cave.
