Annie and I woke up this morning and decided we needed to get out of the house today. We decided to explore Longmont and get some lunch.

We ended up at a little park on the North-West side of the Fairgrounds right next to the St. Vrain. We walked down to the water on a little trail and the kids played around as we made our way East along the river. The stretch along the park here was obviously affected by the 2013 flood. The entire river basin seems to have been overturned and the water shifted to a more northerly position. There was dirt and debris piled up in lumps and spurts. We found a ten foot diameter hole with water in it, next to a hill topped with smooth rocks that once belonged at the bottom of the river. It was fun. The kids played with sticks and ice. We wondered around in the mud and the leaves then went to lunch at Culvers, which I had never been. Good fast food joint.

It was a nice outing with the family.

Later in the evening, after Juniper had fallen asleep Annie made us go outside to see the lunar eclipse! We stood out in the freezing cold and Atticus got out his telescope so we could get a closer look. It was a very nice, a red blood-moon.
